I am beyond excited! This is the first wedding I can feature that I actually helped to manage! Michele and Vaughn were our November 8, 2014 bride and groom at Shadowland. I had previously met Michele during a Whirlpool Corporation luncheon during the summer which she administered. I knew to expect a fun and happenin’ wedding once I met her; Michele was all smiles and laughs. It warmed my heart to see how deeply in love her and Vaughn were. From the MOH speech expressing their friendship-turned-romance, to the playful cutting of the cake, and finally the numerous dances shared on the ballroom floor, it was a great party for all. I wish this couple only the happiest of marriages!
The unending smiles and abundant laughs which filled the Shadowland Ballroom on November 8, 2014 were all but expected from Shadowland staff when Michele and Vaughn were married. Throughout the planning process is was evident how fun the couple was, as well as how deep their love ran for one another. Finally the countdown to the wedding finally rolled to zero, and the wait was over. The Big Day had arrived…
The girls donned their pearls and brushed on their makeup as the men fastened their cuff-links and straightened their ties. The appearance of the couple’s wedding was chic and classic. The bridesmaids sported one-shouldered navy dresses and the men wore light grey suits with navy ties. The light pink rose bouquets, which enhanced the coral accents of the wedding, were designed by Flowers by Anna.
As the ladies concentrated on their preparation work and smiling for the camera, celebrating began early for the groom and his groomsmen as they watched the Michigan State versus Ohio State game, played some billiards, and took advantage of the cigars offered as thank you’s for the party members.
The ceremony took place at St. Joseph Parish. The sweetest moment: the groom’s reaction when he first saw his bride walking his way. There was no questioning the love these two have for one another as they met each other’s eyes, and the victory walk down the aisle at the commencement of the ceremony was rightly applauded and cheered.
As the wedding’s guests headed to Shadowland Ballroom for cocktail hour, the newlyweds and their bridal party ventured throughout their hometown of St. Joseph for some photo opportunities. Attempting to escape the frigid November air, they went to the Box Factory for the Arts and posed among the pieces in the galleries. They also braved the weather and took advantage of the natural lighting outside in various gardens along Downtown St. Joe.
When it came time to enter Shadowland, the bridal party had to catch up for the party had already begun! A stationary bar in the Boardwalk allowed for guests to take full advantage of the entire Silver Beach Center. From taking rides on the Carousel and snacking on passed appetizers to posing for pictures at the homemade photo booth and dancing to John Correll’s DJ skills, guests enjoyed a night to be talked about for years to come.
