Goals for 2018

How is it already 2018, friends?! This holiday season has been a whirlwind on my end, and I apologize for not staying up-to-date on my blogging — there has just been too much good happening that the Blogosphere was not on my mind! However, after spending so much time with family and friends over the past month, I am rejuvenated and rearing to go on all things Uncorking Peonies… I hope you’re ready for a lot of updates!

As always, though, with the new year also comes new goals, and I want to take a few minutes to state my 2018 Goals to help with accountability (and memory.) Unfortunately many of the goals I set for 2017 were not met to the extent I set them — I was a bit too enthusiastic in January 2017 — but I am very happy with how the year ended and what I was able to accomplish throughout the last year. Especially with so much change hitting me within one year!

For 2018, I am sticking to my tradition of not setting resolutions in this New Year, but rather setting goals. Even though this upcoming year is bringing quite a bit of change in itself, I want to continue to work to better myself every day I’m alive. So here are the goals I am setting for myself to accomplish within 2018:


  • Run at least ten 5k’s throughout the year
  • Exercise at least 4 times for a length of 30 minute or more every week
  • Track meals in MyFitnessPal for 100 days straight


  • Meditate/practice yoga at least twice a week
  • Publish at least three blog posts per month
  • Read the following self-motivation books:
    • Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
    • You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
    • The Power of Positive Thinking by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
    • Invited by Christen Price
    • Whatcha Gonna Do with That Duck? by Seth Godin
    • Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
    • Yes Please by Amy Poehler
    • How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie
    • Let Go! by Pat Flynn
    • Fooled by Randomness by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
    • Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy
    • Bossypants by Tina Fey
    • The Paleo Manifesto by John Durant
  • Try three new classes (cooking, trade, etc.) throughout year


  • Save $5000 into Wedding Budget account
    (Half way there as of today! Whoa!)
  • Pay off Ford Escape
  • Eat out no more than 3 times a week


  • Attend an event focused solely on furthering my relationship with God
  • Complete at least 3 Bible studies (online or through a study group)
  • Read the following devotional or spiritual books:
    • Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs
    • Satisfied by Jeff Manion
    • The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst
    • Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst
    • 5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit by Nicki Koziarz
    • Wild at Heart by John Eldredge
    • Love Lives Here by Maria Goff

There are a lot of great things happening in 2018, the biggest of which is the purpose for this blog — my wedding. Leading up to the Big Day (June 16th) though will be bridal showers, the bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, plus all the planning still needing to happen. Let’s not forget our honeymoon, options when my apartment lease is up (stay or house-hunt?), and a million other nuggets of fun and excitement which will happen as Me becomes We in only a few shorts months’ time.

So, with that being said, I will attempt to work towards my goals while also keeping my sanity as a bride-to-be. Wish me luck — it is about to be a busy year!
