I’m all over the board, I know, friends. One day I’m thinking about cakes, the next I’m considering the seating chart. I tell you, coordinating someone else’s wedding is 542,568 times easier than trying to plan my own! At least, in the respect that coordinating and planning are TWO. VERY. DIFFERENT. THINGS.
But, let me stay on target with this post before I rant: head tables. Let me give some insight on the wonderfulness that is where G and I will be sitting throughout the Big Day, and how we’ll be spinning away from tradition a bit… Continue reading “#Inspiration: Head Tables”
G’s aunt has graciously offered to bake our wedding cake and cupcake treats for the wedding so scratch finding a local bakery off the list! (Thankfully! I honestly was not looking forward to going around taste-testing numerous cakes or other treats with the holiday season coming up. Ohmigoodness…) And I have heard amazing things about Aunt P’s baking skills so I feel completely at ease knowing another item is off the to-do list.

I met with our florist today (Flora Lia of Baroda, Michigan) and spoke to her on the general idea of what we would like in terms of centerpieces and decor pieces at the wedding. I will admit it, I know nothing about flowers. I am no green thumb — I have killed every plant that has ever had the misfortune of making its way into my home. This is not something I am proud of, but something of which I simply do not have the time to research and remedy at this stage in my life. Perhaps one day I’ll take up gardening just for the sake of learning the proper procedures of watering house plants — I’m pretty sure watering them at all is necessary, which is one of my biggest mistakes.
While talking with Lia, I realized there was a lot more I needed to decide than “lots of greenery with some pops of pink peonies.” She was spouting out floral names left and right, and I probably was looking at her as if I had never heard English before. I have a lot of studying to do before the wedding, but the images below are an overview of our most basic ideas when it comes to our floral centerpieces.

It is hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.
Today the world lost a special person, my dear friend Denise. We’d been friends since the day we met, only two years ago at a planning meeting for Little Black Dress. I didn’t know then what kind of impression she would make on my life and it is with a very heavy heart that I grieve her loss.
Denise was the type of person who was adored by everyone she met. She had a contagious smile, a loving heart, a fighter’s strength, and a glorious soul. She was never more than a phone call away, even with her crazy schedule of juggling motherhood, work, and being a breast cancer awareness advocate. There is no way to fully express her impact in the community and in my own life.

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” -Hebrews 11:1
I know I have mentioned this before, but I’ll make the statement one more time: I was raised in a Lutheran home. I also attended a Lutheran grade school and high school, and Christian university my freshman year. I was taught the Bible since preschool; Biblical stories are more familiar to me than nursery rhymes. I know the principles of my religion, the do’s and don’t’s of good Christian living. However, I still find myself learning something new every day about my faith, and I still question certain aspects.
